WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 10, 2013) – Susan A. Davis, Chairman of Susan Davis International (SDI), a full-service international public relations and strategic communications agency headquartered in Washington, D.C., was named a Finalist in the “Women Helping Women – Government or Non-Profit” category in the 10th annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business, and will ultimately be named a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Stevie Award winner at the awards ceremony on November 8.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees and the companies they run – worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards. More than 1,200 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories.
Davis’ nomination told the story of her career as a pioneering woman business owner, who opened her agency when relatively few women were experiencing success in the business world, and fewer still owned their own business. Davis overcame obstacles which traditionally limited the future for women and shared the lessons she learned to create opportunities for women and women-owned businesses to flourish through leadership development and social entrepreneurship.
In addition to her formal and informal mentoring of women within SDI, Davis has led her team in successfully launching many public relations campaigns celebrating women. She is a past President of the prestigious International Women’s Forum representing 3,000 women leaders worldwide. Currently, she chairs Vital Voices Global Partnership, begun by Hillary Clinton when she was First Lady, which identifies, invests in and brings visibility to emerging women leaders around the world. As an agency, SDI supports the all girls Zabuli Education Center outside of Kabul, Afghanistan through funding daily breakfast and lunch for 350 young schoolgirls.
“For 10 years we have been recognizing the achievements of women in business, and this year’s nominations were the most impressive class the judges have ever reviewed,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards. “We look forward to seeing the final judges’ decisions and honoring this year’s Stevie winners in New York next month.”
