Washington-based, woman-owned strategic communications and events firm Susan Davis International won the premier business award, the Gold Stevie American Business Award for Best Event, for “In Sacrifice for Liberty and Peace: Centennial Commemoration of America’s entry into World War I.”
SDI also won the Bronze Stevie American Business Award for Public Relations Campaign of the Year for “In Sacrifice for Liberty and Peace.”
To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of America’s entry into WWI, SDI created a multifaceted plan aimed at executing a high-caliber, cost-effective commemoration ceremony propelled by a robust national and international public relations campaign. The ceremony, which incorporated the story of America’s societal transformation, created a multi-media opportunity to share that story through social and traditional media strategies. Over 4,000 guests and general public attendees from 29 nations and 26 states accepted the World War I Centennial Commission’s invitation to the anniversary event. SDI’s media outreach resulted in 602 Commission and commemoration-related stories.
“All our awards are important to SDI, but receiving the Gold Stevie for the Commemoration of WWI is both an honor and a recognition of the respect and admiration Americans have for the contributions our veterans made 100 years ago to keep our country free,” said Chairman Susan Davis.
The Stevie Awards were created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide.
