Tony VieriaSDI’s Anthony Vieira is a health communications writer on SDI’s 12 person team supporting the Department of Defense’s Defense Health Agency (DHA). He is one of the newest members of the SDI team, having joined in March of this year.

DHA was established in 2013 to support the delivery of healthcare to 9.4 million beneficiaries. A husband and a father, Anthony says the three things that best describe him are sports fanatic, anime lover, self-proclaimed chef

Here is more about Anthony:

What drove your interest in communications?

During my sixth grade graduation, I was selected (my name was drawn out of a hat) for a FOX 5 DC segment with Tom Sater. Not only did I get to forecast the weather on-air, I received a tour of the studios and learned how things work behind the scenes. From that day forward, I knew I wanted a job in communications.

What’s the best book you’ve read in the past year, and why?

How to Be Richer, Smarter, and Better-Looking Than Your Parents. It’s a pretty humorous book that shares tips on how to make wise financial decisions.

What is your favorite place to visit?

Philadelphia, Pa. You can find the best cheesesteaks and soft pretzels here. It’s also the place to be on a football Sunday #FlyEaglesFly.

What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve ever received?

Be coachable and open to learning something new.

How do you get your news and stay informed?

I’m definitely a news junkie. I listen to WTOP on the radio almost as much as 106.7 The Fan and 94.1 WIP. Twitter is another one of my favs — it’s one of the fastest ways to receive breaking news stories.
