Travelling military employment resource center to visit Capitol Hill as part of “Day on the Hill” focused on veteran employment
ARLINGTON, VA (February 27, 2013) – Co-chairs of the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus will tour the Hero2Hired (H2H) Mobile Job Store, managed by The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, on Wednesday, February 27. The H2H Mobile Job Store (MJS) will be parked at 1st and C St, NE, Washington, DC, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ronald Young, Executive Director of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), will escort the caucus leaders during their tour of the MJS, scheduled for 1 p.m. The event is part of the Caucus’ “Day on the Hill” focused on reducing unemployment among veterans.
The “Hero2Hired” program, better known as H2H, is a comprehensive, multi-faceted program which utilizes an electronic job and career web platform, mobile applications and Facebook integration, and virtual and physical career fairs to address the unique employment challenges facing Guard and Reserve members. The Mobile Job Store allows Guard and Reserve attendees to search for available jobs through the H2H jobs website, specifically designed to connect Guardsmen and Reservists with military-friendly civilian employers that have made a stated commitment to hire veterans.
The MJS is traveling across the country to help members of the Guard and Reserve find employment through the H2H program. While on Capitol Hill, MJS staff will be available to assist service members searching for employment resources and provide an overview of its resources to members of the media. After visiting Washington, the MJS will stop in locations throughout Maryland, March 2 – 10.
